Proverbs 11:11 says, “Through the blessing of the upright a city is exalted.…” God has given His Church the mandate to care for the hurting and helpless in our cities. This incredible responsibility can only be accomplished as we come together and think creatively and use our resources to make a difference in our city. As we share hope and help with those in need, we are living out the true heart of the Gospel. We invite you to join us as we bless our city and spark a serving revolution!
If you would like to know more about weekly opportunities to serve alongside our team and/or invest in changing the lives of our friends and neighbors in Memphis, check out all of the pages of this site and get involved! We can’t wait to have you experience God’s love in a new way as He works in and through you in your city!
TEAM READ UPDATES
We are so excited about our Team Read tutoring program which began in February 2015 at Douglass K8 school. Volunteers spend one hour each Tuesday morning providing literacy tutoring to second grade students. We are already seeing amazing improvement in the reading skills of the students we spend time with each week. We are so grateful to Principal Lionel Cable and the staff at Douglass for giving us this amazing opportunity to build relationships with and invest in the lives of these precious children. We continue to add members to the team each week, so please contact us if you are interested in making a life changing difference in the life of a child!

Memphis has been labeled “the hungriest city in America”. We have the opportunity and mandate to be a blessing to the poor, marginalized, widows and orphans of this city. Every Friday our teams come together to pray and carpool out to specific North Memphis schools, to serve these children. Each child receives a bag with simple meals and/or snacks to be eaten throughout the weekend. Once we’re at the schools, we unload the food bags from the Serve trucks and prepare to greet the kids with lots of smiles, encouragement, high fives and hugs, as we hand off a bag for every child. Team Members need to wear their red SERVE shirt.
If you are unable to serve, but would like to participate in blessing these precious children, you can give online or bring the following items and place them in our donation bins on the first weekend of each month: The cost to fill a bag is approximately $7/week.
â–Ş 1 box of breakfast bars
â–Ş 4-6-count pack of applesauce cups
â–Ş 1 can of beans & franks
â–Ş 1 can of chicken noodle soup
â–Ş 1 box of Easy Mac
â–Ş 1 small jar of peanut butter
â–Ş 1 can of chili with beans

Prison Ministry: Beyond Barriers
We serve an amazing God who will never leave us or forsake us. But often our circumstances leave us feeling as though everyone has forsaken us. That is how many feel who have found themselves on the back side of poor choices and behind bars. God has called us to reach beyond our comfort and into the world of those who are lonely and outcast. We currently have small groups meeting to train and go in to the city and state prison system to build relationships with the residents and offer love, life, and freedom found in Jesus.
If you are interested in becoming a part of these small groups, please contact:
Women’s Prison Outreach: Jill Beck firstname.lastname@example.org

Mentoring: Man Up Memphis
Man Up Memphis pairs Christian men who are passionate about making a difference with fatherless young men in North Memphis. Our goal is to build a generation of Christ-followers who will be faithful husbands, loving fathers and leaders in their community.
If you are willing to invest 1 hour a week and a few hours every 6 weeks or so for over the course of a year to change the direction of a young man’s life, please contact Dr. Joe Carson at firstname.lastname@example.org

Wednesdays & Fridays during the months of June-July – Cordova 11a-1p
During the summer vacation months, our teams go to the city’s poorest neighborhoods each week and provide bottled waters, snacks, awesome games, and friendly smiles as we encourage the children to dream big dreams and reach for great success. We are aware that most of the children we feed each week during the school year struggle with significant Food Insecurity during the summer months. We want to continue to build upon the relationships we have established and also partner with their parents and/or guardians by providing each family, whose parent or guardian participates, a week’s worth of groceries. Our goal is to build deeper relationships with the children and their families, and to demonstrate and share the love of Christ in a meaningful and tangible way.
