Pastoral counseling is available to members of The Life Church of Memphis. Pastoral counseling is biblical guidance based on the scriptures. These biblical principles are for those coping with life's stresses and difficulties. This is not professional counseling. These confidential meetings take place with two or more people in which the pastoral counselor listens to the counselee describe a personal or family life problem while the pastoral counselor gives empathy, hope, encouragement, prayer, and guidance based on wisdom from the Bible. A pastoral counseling session is conducted in a one hour time period. Sometimes one session is all that is needed while other times the pastoral counselor suggests a series of 2-3 follow-up sessions. Because pastoral counseling is only one part of the overall ministry to individuals at The Life Church, counselees are encouraged to participate in weekly worship services, small groups, and other fellowships at the church in order to achieve the maximum benefit from pastoral counseling.
